Sold album on ebay. Sent via US mail. Have proof of delivery from post office. Buyer is claiming he never got it. No signature was obtained. What happens now?

joe1225us....happened to me recently.
I tried to save a buyer $$ on postage on a shipment
to China....DUMB ME!
I figured I could send "certificate of mailing" which is
$1.30 + regular postage.
Certificate of mailing is a receipt from the PO that they
accepted the item to be mailed.
Well....you know what happens....
Buyer in China claims non-receipt.
BAM!! Money withdrew from PayPal....
refunded to buyer.
After escolating to claim.....I was denied because
I needed a signature for proof of delivery.

So...seems all this ebay with tracking is no good if
buyer does not sign for it.

If it's over $250, a signature is required (I heard they changed it to $700 but haven't verified that)

If it's under $250 then all that is needed is the tracking # showing it delivered. If you used paypal or ebay shipping, the tracking # was automatically uploaded and you shouldn't have to do anything. if you did it manually but got tracking at the PO then just input the tracking # in ebay (you should do that anyway as buyers do like to know where their stuff is while it's enroute)

I sent to Thailand once, buyer left a negative, claimed not recieved ebay never removed the negative feedback, sided with the buyer even though I had POD registered with his signature on it! Buyer got refunded my rating went down to 99%. So it seems you can't win either way. ebay will always side with the buyer. As a seller you need to decide which countries to sell to and which not to. Be aware there are several so called bidders who claim item not received to get items for free, its kind of like online robbery. Make sure you block their ebay id. Most bidders are good but there are some that know how to cheat the system. Worst ever I guy in Europe raised a did not receive item after just two days, and it was weekend. International post, expensive item. Yeh he got his $ back to. Some times sellers just have to take the loss.

On most International shipments I use the "Shipsaver" Insurance offered by ebay. It is inexpensive and easy to use because it's integrated into the ebay system. On the few occasions when an item has been lost I've gotten my money and shipping costs refunded in a few days. Shipsaver will not insure shipments to about 30 countries so I don't ship to those countries.

Shipsaver Insurance is found under the "Application" tab.
