Lets see what we have in fine looking stamps...Post you BEST looking and BEST centered stamp that is more than 100 years old only....Here is mine....

Anyone who knows how the 1st issue part perfs are normally centered will recognize this as a gem, on document to boot.




This one is as jumbo as they come, a tough stamp in any condition.




The most extreme jumbo margins on any perforated 1st issue I have seen. While not equal top to bottom, the margins are insane, and on a large stamp it's magnified even further.




Very scarce stamp (foreign entry), perfectly centered. These are almost universally found shifted extremely to the left or right.

It is the coat of arms of London. Nothing is missing.

It may very well be a revenue or cinderella, but that doesn't mean it's not a stamp, just not a POSTAGE stamp... who needs those icky front-of-book postage stamp thingies anyway?

The Canada #18iv major re-entry I posted a couple of weeks ago is definitely one of my favourites. However, as a VFNH Canadian collector I guess I should post one of my more traditional stamps. So below is a nice deal I picked up on ebay. As you can see it was listed as #118 when it was in fact a beautiful #116 Admiral in VFNH condition. Definitely a gem! I did have a bit of competition from two other bidders who had also recognised that it was identified wrong. So the seller did not get ripped off, but I did get a nice deal. Now if I could only find a nice deal on the 20 and 50 cent values (#119 and #120) to complete my Admirals...

In the short year I've start my M&M collection I've managed to pick up some nice examples of large stamps tough to find in really nice condition. A couple of these I've already shown here, my apologies:

Yes ! It's a London Mayor's Court Revenue Proof from 1883, Imperf.
The actual revenues printed were perforated and the value overprinted in figures [1883-1902] or in words [from 1902]. They were cancelled with an elongated and rather ugly-looking 'MC' perfin, which can be found upright,inverted, sideways and 'all over the place' !
They were used for fines or fees.

I fell in love with the Proof when I first saw one offered on ebay and bid like a maniac.....and still lost out.

A short while later I was given a collection to sell for a friend and this item was in it. It was my fee ! Apart from the design, it is in amazing condition and with perfect gum, MNH. It cost the previous owner £25 from a postal auction in 1987. The one I was outbid on in 2011 sold for £69.
I have never seen any others.

Sorry - since this is a Canadian thread, I thought I would show the nicest Newfoundland stamp I've recently picked up. I think this is a #29? It is MLH.

Southpaw -- What a perfect beauty. I only collect Newfoundland and have a few of the 29, but yours is remarkable for its near perfect centering(hard with this item). It is of course Queen Victoria, chestnut or dark brown from August 1894 (the #28 was earlier and different color (pale red brown, pelure or white paper). 28 and 29 are very close to each other visually, but 28 was also from 1865.

you might be interested to know that there are two valuable variants with a "scar on her nose" and "strap under her chin"...not yours but always good to be on lookout for because the value is 5-10x more.
