My unitrade & scott catalogs skips 244 also. I did a search on 244 in the forum and none of the hits mention Newfoundland, so, we have something of a mystery. I imagine someone smarter than me will have the answer.

Wert, maybe you are missing something? I just checked and Newfoundland 244 is the 1947 'Cabot in the "Matthew" off Cape Bonavista 1497' in the .........Michel catalog!

Robert, I was merely giving you a hard time! But all the same I can never figure out why there is such a discrepancy between the different catalogs! I guess that is why you are scratching your head as well!

Newfoundland Scott 244 is not in the 1961 Scott catalog. So, if it existed at one time, it was delisted prior to 1961.
My guess it was reserved for the 1937 Coronation Issue, but never needed, so never assigned.

I looked in the Walsh Newfoundland and did not see any stamps listed between the ˘.48 fishing fleet(Sc 243) and the ˘.02 green KG VI(sc 245), except for "DPC5 (1 known) Dignitary Presentation Card". I cannot imagine that item had a scott/unitrade # at any time.

Quote: I screwed up.....found it at the top of page 672 in 2015 unitrade I have the 2014 Unitrade, and there is a note at the top of page 656, "No. 244 is not assigned." No reason given, but at least we know it isn't a typo. |

I've got nothing to add, as I missed the boat because there was no reference to Newfoundland in the post Wert.
But thanks for calling for me and thanks for continuing to feed the Newfoundland - heroin habit that you clearly share with me ! |
