Last year, I purchased "The 1976 Register" published by the 1869 Pictorial Research Associates. The publication was a series of articles written by members of the society, including noted expert Jon Rose who wrote "United States Postage Stamps of 1869" for the Linn's handbook series.
Last week, I found a few more copies of "The Register" which included the years 1976-78, and 1982. I have yet to receive them but will review the contents and report back here.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/28152171586...RK:MEBIDX:ITI have a couple of questions for some of our more experienced members who might be able to shed some light on the history of the 1869 Pictorial Research Associates.
What other publications did this organization produce? For instance, the yearbooks I mentioned appear to be compilations of articles written for the group's newsletters. Is my assumption correct? If so, can someone provide a list of books they may have published?
When and why did the 1869 Pictorial Research Associates disband? Are there still former members of the group meeting together and/or writing, documenting, and perhaps (gasp!) plating the pictorials?
