Reeived this cover in the mail today. I have removed sender and recipient addresses. Note that the cover was cancelled in Los Angeles, CA. I always thought that the CA after Los Angeles was CAlifornia, but here it is meaning Canada! (Just humor folks, don't get all serious on this!)
I can only guess it was missent to Los Anageles instead of my address, and since it wasn't cancelled the LA PO thought they would help out. Enjoy!

As parts of Canada are as far south as California, it's reasonable to assume that people might think it was part of Canada.

Well, for the real geographers out there, please be advised that the small island south of Pepee Island in Ontario Ca (Canada) is located as far south as 41 Deg. N, 40'and 54 ". that is a few kilometers more south than the border of California and Oregon which is at 42 Deg N. 00' and a few " See Mill Creek Ridge.
So the Say that Canada extends as far south as California is in fact true.

We always laughed when we traveled from Michigan to visit relatives in Kingsville Ontario that we were going SOUTH to Canada! We were! They are almost the southern most part of Canada. The farmland there is quite pricy, too.

Canada's most southern point, Middle Island in Lake Erie, is about 10 km (6.2 mi) further south than Crescent City, California!

Another piece of trivia on Middle Island, Canada:

Quote:
The southernmost point of Canada is in Lake Erie on a now-uninhabited island called Middle Island, which is part of Pelee Township, which is part of the province of Ontario (which should not be confused with the nearby Middle Bass Island, which is part of Ohio).

Although always a part of Canada, Middle Island was until 2000 owned by an Ohio car dealer who bought it as a pleasure island for his family. After his death his heirs sold it by outcry auction. A non-profit agency called The Canadian Nature Conservancy, which had publicly raised funds for the purpose, bought it for roughly $867,000 (USD) and then deeded it to Canada.
