Besides ebay and stamp-wants (bidStart), what similar online stamp auction sites have any of you all found good deals at which have US stamps? (Prefer PayPal).

Also, what sites would you advise staying away from and why?

I've sold a few stamps at mylittleauctions.com, a site that auctions a litle of every thing, now in their 5th year. Free to register and free to sell.

I tend to use real auctions that have some sort of online facility. In England, both Somerset Stamp Auctions and Warwick & Warwick take online bids, and are very reliable. Estimates tend to be about 10% of Gibbons prices (rather more for Empire, and more agin for some rarer items). Lockdales has some form of live online auction, as well as the normal auction room and e-mail bidding, although I haven't used that facility. Not sure what you're buying. US stamps will obviously be less plentiful in English auctions, but may be cheaper - I'd expect the opposite to apply for British Empire stamps.

Regards.

Geoff

Q/ So, what is the revenue model? Buyers' premium?

As the kids say nowadays: if the product is free, you are the product.

IBFS....I have used Stamp Auction Network most exclusively. Have never had a problem with any Houses. Some you may find have no buyer premium and now and then you can Buy It Now too. Just have never got the stomach to deal with ebay.

IBFS, I know it is not an auction site, but have you ever tried the APS stampstore? Presuming you are an APS member, the prices seem for the most part to be reasonable. If you are not a member, you have to pay a 10% surcharge. I just placed an inexpensive order with them on the evening of the 22nd and received them in the mail on the 26th. I do plan on using them again.

regards, Theron.

IBFS, Although fairly new on the scene, ebid.net does have a stamp following and deals with PayPal.
