Here's one for you Israel specialists.
I recently acquired this gem of a stamp in an auction lot (what a nice surprise). I was immediately intrigued by the postmark which I have identified as a special postmark of the Israel Constituent Assembly.
The Constituent Assembly was the precursor to the modern day Israeli Parliment, known as the Knesset.
The date portion of the cancel shows the Hebrew year as #1514;#1513;"#1496; which ran from October 4, 1948 - September 23, 1949.
What is more interesting is the day portion which shows the number 14.
On February 14, 1949 the Constituent Assembly held its first ceremonial opening meeting in Jerusalem at the headquarters of the Jewish Agency.
I have a feeling that this postmark is from that historic date. But I'd like to know more about this postmark and what type of philatelic items were produced from the Constituent Assembly.
