I came across this in my stock book. I do not read French so I'm not sure what the correspondence is about, but still thought it was neat to share as it approaches it's 249th birthday...

PS I assume the black spot is from the heat of the wax seal being applied? (Any thoughts?)

PSS I just noticed the the "T" is missing in the postmark, it reads Monpellier? (Again, any thoughts?)

Addressed to Mr someone or other at St. John Hospital. Reminding him that eight months ago he had sent him some money.

According to Wiki, it's a "variant spelling" typically used in early references.

Thanks for the help. Good to find out that it's a variant spelling.
