Very interesting that this letter went through the mail stream as 50 cents postage. upside down stamps worth a penny can go a long way. :)

Looks like 50 cents to me. You are expecting way too much from VERY busy people. |

There is a good chance after the sender deposited this mail, it was never handled by actual human hands until the addressee received it. Most mail is completely processed by machines. Depending on whether or not the stamps are tagged, the machine should have rejected the piece |

The stamp shown was later modified in different varieties so as to avoid use of the zero for the very reason stated, the "01" was often confused for "10" when the stamps were affixed upside down. Here's a link to an old thread on the subject: https://goscf.com/t/27607&SearchTerms=Kestrel |

Looks like they lack a cancellation too. Soak 'em off and try again!
A few years back my then-girlfriend and I exchanged the same #3036 $1 red fox issue on three consecutive mailings. She sent it to me on a package and it arrived uncanceled, so I used it on a subsequent package that I sent to her, and commented on it to her, which made her watchful for its next arrival. Well, it arrived at her place again without cancellation, so it saw service one more time on a package she later sent me. When it got to me that time, again without a cancellation, I retired it altogether, figuring it didn't owe us a thing and deserved a restful repose. It's not in my collection, but just tucked away in a tiny box along with other memorabilia from that relationship. |

Philatello - That is against the law, and could get you in some real hot water. I wouldn't advise doing that again. |

LOL, I get the humor. But smauggie is correct. It's called Mail Fraud.
Is it likely you'll be prosecuted? Probably not. Will it ruin your life if you are? Yep. |

Though it looks humor and very trivial. But consequences are too much. Can ruin reputation and may be life. Please do not do again not even jokingly.

Jeez folks, lighten up. The post was made to be amusing and look at the lighter side of stamp collecting. |
