Hi guys..I don't think I have seen this before on stamps...The ink from some of the writings has peeled off the stamp..See below.






Here is a quiz for some one..How did they in the old days get raised lettering on stamps and other material..??..If no one can guess it, I will tell you..We used to do it in printing class on the presses.

TOOK COLOUR READINGS FROM STAMP.

Heh Wert, you didn't just scrape off some
of the engraved lettering, did you ?

BABN had lots of problems when they
printed the engraved portion over the previous
applied photogravure printing even though it
was done on one pass through the press.

Basically the engraved ink didn't stick.

You yourself started a thread awhile ago about the
missing writing on those large 1973 QEII Royal Visit stamps.
Same thing here.



What did you use to get such a sharp close up?

But why are all the colours wrong?

Just use a cheap USB microscope with my own software lithograving.

Because USB and scanner show different colours..
