Ok, I can picture Blackjag, right now, sitting back saying to himself, and anyone who'll listen, "I knew he'd post these books on SCF!"

Of course I would. Going into our club auction tonight, these were the two things I'd set my sights on. And I have to say, I walked away with them.

First, Special Delivery, Canada's Postal History, published by the Canadian Museum of Civilization/Canadian Postal Museum, 2000.
Just because it looked fun!

And George Marler's The Admiral Issue of Canada, published by the American Philatelic Society 1982. A comprehensive 554 page study of Canada's Admiral Series. I was expecting the soft cover!

The inside is much more impressive!

Hello therealwesty. The last two on your "look out" list are available ONLY from the Greene Foundation at a cost of $125 and $150 respectively. This is the time to buy as there are only 4 or 5 of each left. They were both printed in 2010 with very short production runs. There will be a second printing done but, perhaps, not for a while.

Being mainly a World Wide collector I do run into items I'm not familiar with. So in addition to the Scott Stamp catalogs my "go to" book to find unknown items is the Linn's Stamp Identifier. It has a alphabetical listing of stamp inscriptions and a pictorial section for those items that are not inscribed and difficult to ID. You can see by the scan it is a little dog eared.

Went around the corner to that little stamp shop I've mentioned before here on the forum, to pick up some vario pages. This guy sells supplies dirt cheap (no tax, shhhhhhh!)
And what was staring at me from the shelf?

van Dam's Canadian Revenue Stamp catalogue. Been aching to get one of these for a while. Picked it up cheaper than from the website. Sorry Mr. van Dam.

But I'm still thrilled!

As it turns out, I'm sitting here in Oz on the day next to the shortest day of the year sorting through Canada Revenues using Van Dam!

I have the live Allen Collins' Band version of Freebird playing and your hot dogs are dancing in perfect time to the music!

So, what information does this contain that is not already in the Deutschland-Spezial catalog?

It's similar to what's in the Spezial, though it goes into more detail on many of the sub-types of Kleinbogen. I wouldn't recommend it unless you über-specialize.

The library continues to grow. Stepped into a used book store during my lunch hour today and came across this bad boy.
The Dictionary of Stamps in Colour by James A. Mackay (Michael Joseph Ltd., 1973)

This tome contains beautiful reproductions of stamps "from every country that has ever issued stamps"
