Hi Bujutsu,
Thank you for posting the info on "Canada's Postage Stamps" by Douglas and Mary Patrick. I have managed to track down and order a copy, which will make a fine companion for Maud and Miska's "America's Stamps". Can't wait. Over the moon.

You're welcome Terence
I am glad that the posting peaked your interest, and, more so that you were able to procure a copy of the book.

I do like this thread. As I delve more into postal history and philately (studying as opposed to just collecting stamps) I find my library is becoming more and more important to me. Picked these two up yesterday at the National Stamp Show in Toronto. Billigs Vol 9 Canada The War Tax Stamps and this two part study of Canadian Cigarette/Tobacco stamps and Liquor Bottle seals of Canada. Not an area of real study for me, but I keep coming across these things, so, why not? |

Great jamesw
I also have the same two books. There is also a companion volume to the Tobacco and Liquor Seal Stamps. They are an interesting topic to say the least.

Nice one 51studebaker
Some of those old catalogues listed varieties that you don't see even in the newer editions. Strange why some catalogues drop them since they are still in existence?

This is a book that my wife bought for me about 4 weeks ago. There is a wealth of information in it and the illustrations are great too. Chimo Bujutsu |

Today I have a good mix of books and web site links. The internet has made getting special resources easy. Some of them are very well detailed making buying additonal books needless on some things. |

Here's incontrovertible proof that I am so absorbed by the chase of things that sometimes I lose focus. I posted a month ago that I had obtained Marcus Samuel's book on the Specimen Stamps of the Crown Colonies. I moved some stuff on my bookshelf yesterday and found this, purchased in December last year. I have put it up for sale on ebay, please click on the link above to see my listings. Here is a book I bought some time ago. The front cover is blank, so, I scanned the spine of it to show the title etc. It was published in 1920 and is also a collectible. Chimo Bujutsu |

from ordering via various 3rd party dealers on Amazon, picking up used set of 2012 Scott catalogs for about US$140, including $24 in shipping costs from the various retailers. Most expensive volume cost about $25, and most are ex-library copies in very nice condition. Also decided to pick up the remaining Maury France and Empire catalogs from Amazon.fr. Now have the whole set of 5 (France, DOM-TOM, African Colonies, Colonies/Occupations in Europe & Asia, and Andorra/Monaco/St Pierre & Miquelon). They are a veritable gold mine of specialized info. |

I'm loving adding to my library. And I also love showing off my finds on this thread. What a great philatelic library this would make! Found these at the old book and paper show in Toronto last weekend. While with this dealer I had a nice conversation with a gentleman from the Greene Foundation (the philatelic organization in Toronto which recently authenticated the recent find of Canada's rarest stamp). He was purchasing a number of booklets for the foundation's library. Also picked up this interesting piece. Appears to be a congressional brief about the state of the US Parcel Post (1913). Not sure what I'll be able to glean from this, but when will I see another one? |
