I guess I got it at a bargain price then jamesw. I guess the book is rarer than I thought?

J. Svensson, I also have that book. There is also a second book as well by the same author titled, "Encyclopaedia Of World Stamps 1945 - 1975". I figured that I might as well get that too just to complete the set.

As a member of the Oregon Stamp Society, I have access to the Northwest Philatelic Library (NWPL) any time there's a club function. However, I have been recently looking through their shelves of books for sale and have been finding some real gems!

Previously, I purchased The first, The United States Ten Cent Stamps of 1855-1859 – By Neinkin, Jon Rose' book on 1869 pictorials (part of the Linn's handbook series), Jon Rose' classic US imperf stamps, two books on cancellations - a book on RPO & boat/ship cancellations in the US and a book on Machine cancellations from (I think) 1871-1925 by Hamner.

Also at NWPL this past weekend, I picked up Neinken's book on the 12c stamp of 1851-1857, Schmid's "The expert's book", two Armstrong books - W/F 1908-1921 and "US coil issues 1906-38", and finally the "American Airmail Catalogue, 6th Edition".

Finally, I purchased a few books on ebay this past week as well - Ashbrook's "US 10c stamp of 1855-57", Weiss' book "US 15c stamp of 1870-90", and Ashbrook's "Us issue of 1869".

I know some of these books are out-of-print and generally expensive, but I got some amazing deals on all of these books!

Brian

I just got hold of a copy of a 1954 World Atlas. It is very fun and philatelically enlightening to see what the world's political borders were like 60 years ago.

Great library! If I weren't color-blind, I'd seek out some of those same color guides. C'est la vie ...

Hi Kirk
Took a while. Available on Amazon and ebay. Many of the Amazon dealers I found with it were located in the USA, and wouldn't deliver to Canada (still sore about the War of 1812, I suppose). Found this on ebay. There was a variety of prices, but this was inexpensive (I'm notoriously cheap!) because the slip cover isn't pristine, and there's a dedication (Merry Christmas Dad...) on the title page. I guess that would put some people off.
Not me!
Already more than halfway through. Certainly a fascinating telling of King George V's obsession with all things postal, and the ability of His Majesty and his minions to obtain rare and wide spread material. It's good to be the king!
