Got hold of Yvert's Timbres de France - Le Specialise (1849-1900) recently, ready for a challenging Autumn and Winter with Ceres, Louis Napoleon and Sage types. I suspect that this may have less of the "specialised" information than some books of its kind, but it gains in fantastic design and illustration, much of it using material from the postal museum in Paris (currently closed for renovation, sadly). A substantial amount of detail on the balloon posts used during the Siege of Paris - I don't expect to be acquiring any of these covers in the near future!

GeoffHa - I'm jealous - great acquisition Enjoy, hope you find some interesting variations etc - and that the French language doesn't create too much of a challenge.

A bit off topic, but there was a question about what's in your library? Came across these 3 post cards while organizing my collection of postcards.

Add Michel for the rest of Europe as well. Nothing special about these publications - all are basic catalogs for many of you. For a general WW collector like me however these will probably make a significant difference, as I've mostly been using Scott Classical specialized for reference until now. I've had it with all the incomplete listings in Scott, so now I'm expecting my collections will need to be re-arranged

(this reminds me I need to get back to publishing specialized catalogue reviews soon. Real life though been so hectic have had little time to actually do much with stamps or anything hobby-wise.)

Thanks, but that would be very exaggerated - I¨m pretty much only intending to rise a little above basic level, on the areas that interests me more. I'm not specializing on anything really, except on annoying my wife

From Russia with Love. The 3-volume Zagorsky catalogue. Vols 1 (1857-1965) and 3 (1992-2015) are 2016 editions, volume 2 (1966-1991) is the 2014 edition.

That broken circle book is terrific Bujutsu. I've found mine to be very handy. Well played!

Picked up over the weekend on a trip to NYC with my wife to celebrate her birthday. No stamping allowed, but was allotted 10 in a book store. Had to work fast!

Interesting catalog. Covers definitive issues only from 1871 to 1946 in detail, as well as Offices in China and Korea, and Military Franchise stamps.

Commemoratives not in this volume must be in a separate volume to come.

Mostly in Japanese, and while some info can be deduced via logical guessing (different perf types, shades (the name of which are given in both Japanese and English)) there lots of info here that I will probably need to ask my Japanophone friends for help with.

Still, over 200 pages, all for a little over US$30 with shipping, not a bad addition to the library!

Very nice.

Too bad they do not have an all English version.
