As I don't specialise, I haven't found a need for catalogues. I usually just borrow what I need from the library. Having said that, I have accrued a few books along the way....

Just about every copy of Australian Stamp Bulletin since 1987

My most important catalogue

Makes for interesting bedtime browsing even though it's not a part of my collecting focus.

KirkS, I remember buying that same one at Woolworths back in the early 70's. I still have it. I gave it to my Daughter a few years ago and She still uses it.

That was very likely the same source for mine. For a kid, it did its thing. We lived a few blocks from a library, so this only had to tide me over until I could run down to the reference section.

I just took a look at mine. Same cover only the price was .35 cents. So I guess yours must be a few years newer.

Hi All

I cannot emphasize this too strongly, but, I have always been a fan for having a reference library.

If one is to specialize in any particular phase of the hobby, then books etc are a must.

Without appearing arrogant, my library consists of over 200 cloth-bound books, close to 1000 different journals and bulletins and over 25,000 (yes twenty five thousand) pages of clippings of articles from the major philatelic papers and magazines. These are being filed in alphabetical order as I do this message (between breaks of course ) I have some foreign catalogues as well since I like to go beyond the scope of the Scott's Standard Catalogues. I have a few of these and not too many since the costs of books, not to mention postage and handling to get them to me, is becoming astronomical.

Once everything is completed in my files, I will have a very comprehensive library - and yes, my library is open 24 hours a day 7 days a week

On top of this, I have gleaned a wealth of information from different online sources and have them in my files on the computer as well.

I sure enjoy reading all of the postings in this forum.

...and this one almost defies description,
if you collect Western Australia it is indispensible, and a tribute to man in his ability to research.
Beautifully written and illustrated.
