In case you are wondering about the apparent "library stickers", we have a charity organisation in Perth (Anglicare?) they have book sales, once a year in my suburb, books donated or as part of estates, and the money goes towards the needy. You gotta be early, but not many go in search of philatelia, and one can snap up absolute bargains, Gibbons catalogues $5, most other books $1

Thanks Philb, I find it hard to resist Literature, especially when it is inexpensive I am sure a lot of us are closet Bibliophiles, I think somewhere, feeding the silverfish is a broadsheet roneod collection of golf on stamps, in 11 years of collecting, never met a golfthematicer. But it's there, waiting patiently |

Collections from the dark side. You suddenly realise your collecting habits have reached a deeper and darker addiction, daily you can't wait for your next sniff of gum, or the feel of a finely crafted cover with whats that! an unusual auxilliary marking. You look at your bookshelf, and there is the evidence for all to see.............. |

An illustrated history of Stamp Design~William Finlay Mr. Finlay has an amazing grasp of global trends with the process of progress? in the evolution of the not so common postage stamp. Makes delightful reading and reference, with information that one wonders how or where he managed to mine it. He begins his introduction with the observation... "The earliest stamp collectors, on acquiring a new specimen were likely to ask, "Where has it come from?" A later generation.."What is it worth?" |

Great books shown here. One sparked my memory of some of the old Linns Weekly's and that one was the cover of the book by Monty Wedd titled "Stamp Oddities". If my memory is correct, Linns used to have a small 'artist's rendition' of stamp oddities from this particular book. Would I be correct in assuming this Great forum - I have said this before too <G> Chimo Bujutsu |

Hey there Rod222, You have 2 books in your library that I've been looking for in my research, "The Revenue & Railway Stamp of Tasmania"; & "The Railway Stamps of Mainland Australia". Very nice stuff! |

Hi Guys, sorry, I was not "subscribed" again, nearly missed your comments. 1. Unsure Bujutsu, being in Aussie, I have not come across any of Linn's publications in Aussie. Sorry. Warrehouse if I can assist with your research, just holler my friend, I can scan sundry info, failing that, I can raise a flag, if I see them at auction. I paid $50 Aussie for 8 Revenue catalogues, about $10 each give or take.

In auctions I've seen on ebay those books sell well. High US$ over $50 per book. Libraries don't have them. Personally my interest lies in the Railways which for Australia is philatelically very intriguing area of study! |
