Rhett,
at least 2 of your posts reflect your opinion that a message posted right after yours, was in response to you. That is a False impression.
Major shortcoming to SCF is no control to "reply to" nor related clue that a given reply is in answer to another specific post. Very annoying. It's as if the posting design scheme assumes "everyone in real time, reading and posting in real time together. ("in turn")" I hardly get to any topic with a day or so of last post, just too busy! (other forums have much better design to let one know if a reply is specific answer to an earlier post. maybe one day SCF will get that improvement, too.)

stampsOnMail,
Major Shortcoming? Not at all. You assume that people are going to use the 'reply to' control; this is not the case. In fact, they could just as easily use the 'Quote' control if someone want to take the time. And in fact, it is even easier to simply add "Hi Bob" or "Hi Sue" as the beginning line to ANY post where a person is responding to a particular post. Yet, most folks do not do this.

The issue is not a "short-coming" of the forum, the issue human behavior and getting people to take more time when replying.
Don

Edit:
Please also note that you are replying about a Post that Rhett made 6 years ago.
This is why we ask that when people revive old threads that they note that they are 'bumping' them so folks understand that the thread is many years old. Again, human behavior. In this case Gp30sieb bumped thread and as a new member, probably did not know this.
