There must be 40 listings on Hipstamp for a #279h; not a one of them is vermilion.

The Scott number should be 279Bh in the OP.

Stampfire, you seem to flag these listing as a problem. What is your solution?

No solution. I just need one for my collection and is a PITB when they're all the wrong color. There's a lot of stuff on Hipstamp with wrong numbers,
many are self-adh's listed as sheet stamps. Another example is Great Britain #161a. A dealer has had one listed for probably 5 years; it's not a 161a (pencf) but a 161. I messaged him a couple of years ago about it. he did nothing. I think it's still there.

Essay. Yes. that's closer to vermilion than any I've seen. However, it looks like a 279Bd or 279Be. I have a 279Bd, though thanks for the reference.

I've never actually seen one... a certified copy... anywhere. And yet they are fairly cheap in Scotts.

Can somebody post theirs?

I find using Vuescan that reddish variations show up much lighter than the original. Carmine is one color that seems to be affected by this.
