I have many like the above with perfins - this one is CP reversed?
Others say PS, PF, MM etc.
Are these just anti-theft issues, officials...
Is there a catalog for these.
Are they generally more valuable?

Yours is a security perfin. Generally considered damaged by most collectors, but interesting to some, like me, and sought after by a few specialists. Some can have considerable value to the specialists.

There is often no rhyme or reason for the orientation, as sheets could be run through the perforator any old way, even folded in half. Some listings will track the known orientations, in addition to identifying the perfin, itself.

By the way, I believe C.P is an insurance company in Paris, Le Patrimoine. If you search for lists, you might see CP listed as Comptoir des Poutrelles, but that one doesn't have the period/stop in the middle.

[edited to add:]
I did a little more looking on your other perfins.

If your MM has prominent serifs on the letters, it is Messageries Maritimes;

P.S. could be Paz et Silva;

PF is likely Poulenc Freres (11 holes in the P, which is 5 holes high), or

P.F. could be P. Fromont (14 holes in the P, which is 7 holes high) or Pathe Freres (12 holes in the P, which is 6 holes high)

Thank You for the info.
I had read years ago that many consider them damaged.
I think they just add to their charm & one more factor to research.

Is there a chance it is DMC? The C would have eleven holes. DMC could be Dollfus Mieg et Cie, to this day a really big deal in the yarn/thread department.
