Canada 2015 - Canadian Flag 50th Anniversary

Actually at the time of the debates I really liked the the "Pearson Pennant" because
it not only looked good but also made sense.

But I think the one chosen was the right one.

It does seemed to have worked for us.

I love our new 1965 flag...simple...bright and stands out...

Has anyone else noticed the colour of the cancellation on The Souvenir Sheet OFDC? I received mine in the mail today and the cancellation is black ink while the pictures I see on the internet are all of a gold colour ink.

Has anyone received their press sheet(s) yet? I ordered mine on Jan27 when they were still available and nothing thus far. The fact that I haven't seen one on ebay yet gives me a bit of relief and could mean that they may be delayed...

I think they're being mailed out on 02 March.

Does anyone know where I can buy one of these Flag press sheets in the Vancouver area?

My $5.00 OFDC has a black cancellation and my permanent OFDC has a gold cancellation.

Both the Canada Post web site and the Details magazine show the $5.00 OFDC with a gold cancellation. Is the black cancellation a variety or did Canada Post decide to save money bu not using gold ink for this OFDC?

I got a mailing from Canada this week with a $5 stamp [ex M/S].

Hugely impressive.

Picked up the signed set today at PO and put it up on ebay had it sold in 3 hours for $380 CAD nice turnover

got the last flag stamp at my post office...close call.

I know I'm opening up a can of worms here but...

I was relieved to find that the Post Office had not forgotten me and my Flag 50th Press Sheet arrived safe and sound.
I paid $115 - because I had to - to assure that my press sheet collection was complete!
I took out the sheet - wondered at the fabric - wondered why there were three extra stamps there - and slid it back into its metal tube.
And now...

I will place it here:

in the stack of tubes under a spare desk in my office because...
there is no where else to put it.

What, I wonder, are we supposed to do with a press sheet?
To the left of the picture you can see some silver metal frames wherein I had begun to hang the Lunar New Years.
The frame cost more than the sheet! My wife, it turns out, was not all that keen on decorating the house in a philatelic scheme.
There are now 47 of them. There are no suburban walls that could hold them.

I know a lot of responders to this entry will crow 'I told you so' and feel smug that they avoided paying $145 (so far this year) because they refuse to buy press sheets.
On the other hand, there's the guy on ebay (see above) who's now selling them at $230 a pop.

So I've got this 100% investment under my desk that I will probably never look at again!

Who are the smarties here? The non-buyers? or the 100% profiteers? It's not me!
And I'm frustrated with Canada Post for putting me is this weird position.
