I am currently collecting the stamps of British Mandate Palestine, and have found there are many catalog systems in use. On ebay the most popular seems to be Stanley Gibbons, but a local dealer here in Israel told me that Michel is now the most used. I know there is also a catalog from Bale and Yvert too but have not seen them.

I currently own the Scott catalog - but find the Palestine section very frustrating - they assign many minor numbers to things that should be major in my opinion.

Looking for any opinions on the best system to use to research and organize my collection, thanks!

I have found the Bale Palestine catalogue to be the best when I used to collect Palestine Mandate stamps many years ago. I think that the Bale Palestine catalogue still uses Stanley Gibbons numbers but with many more varieties listed.

Yes, I agree. Bale is by far the best for Palestine.
I no longer collect Palestine, or postage stamps, but still have my old [1980] catalogue as a handy reference.

If you wish to get an idea of what it is like you can find them in a number of places in Tel Aviv. If you are 'out of the way' I can lend you my copy.

Londonbus1.....east of Netanya.

Thank you for the offer to lend your Bale Palestine catalog. I am in Petach Tivkah and it is very hard for me to get out of the house due to family and work responsibilities. If you could mail me your copy I would be happy to return it back via post with some extra money to cover your expenses. I would need the book for around a month if that is OK with you.
