Freedom From Hunger Campaign
March 21, 1963
Dr. Binay Ranjan Sen, an Indian diplomat and the Director General of the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAO), advocated the Freedom From Hunger campaign in 1960. The United Nations adopted the campaign and held the World Food Congress in the United States in 1963.
As part of the campaign, 140 postal administrations agreed to promote the Freedom From Hunger campaign. This combined effort make it one of the largest stamp issuing causes in postal history.
The stamps issued by Maldives have two designs: one shows a handful of rice grains and the other shows a net of fish.
