Another "new" coil will be the 3rd variety of the 1 cent Bobcat. The stamp will be issued on Febr. 21 and will be available under USPS # 786905. This will be for a coil of 100.
The stamp will be different: the date will be 2015. It is not yet known if Scott will give it a major number.

To be clear, the stamp is being issued as a coil of 10000. Item number 786905 is a strip of 100 from the larger coil.

And although not listed in USA Philatelic, you may be able to order strips of 100 for the Stars and Stripes by using item numbers 783105 (3K) and 783205 (10K). Similar unlisted strips have been available from other large coils in the past.

Linn's has announced the USPS will issue an additional set of Ferns (5 different designs-Forever 49˘) on March 27, 2015 in Kansas City, MO; PSA coils of 3,000 and 10,000. This will be a new printing of the March 6, 2014 Forever rate issue, produced by a different printer and using an offset process instead of the previous gravure engraved process. Coil strips of 25 of each for collectors should be available- Item # unknown at this point.

The announcement of the new fern coils was accompanied by an astonishing piece of info. The two roll sizes (3K & 10K) will have different dates. Apparently one was originally produced ahead of time for a possible 2014 release ... which never took place. Don't know which is which, but one roll will supposedly have 2014 date and the other a 2015 date. So collectors may want to buy strips from both the 3K & the 10K rolls.

The 3k Fern coil has a 2015 date in the upper right corner of the stamps and the 10k coil has a 2014 date in the lower left corner of the stamps.

In purchasing any US coil issue, what is the norm for album placement as far as strips are concerned. Aside from the State Flag issue, on single design I have been mounting a strip of three (w/# centered), in multiple design issues, of 2 or 3 I have been mounting all designs plus one on either side. For 4 & 5 designs, I have been mounting just the 4 or 5 designs w/# centered. Is there a preferred strip # (or is that left to the discretion of the collector)???

The fern coils can now be ordered on the USPS web site. But they picture a stamp with a 2015 date for both the 3K and the 10K versions. I recall Linn's reporting that one size (10K I believe) has 2014 date while the other has a 2015 date.

A new plate number has been reported for the Star Spangled Banner of 2014. Plate Number P22222 has been found by Michael Lipson, a Virginia PNC dealer. No word yet on availability from the USPS.

As I mentioned above, the plate number was reported by Michael Lipcson. He has a website on Angelfire: http://www.angelfire.com/sd2/coilnu...WebMain.html
Oh, I am sorry. The new plate number was reported to PNC3. It will be in the April Issue of Coil Line and also in the PNC3 publication " New Issues 2014 ".

Have any differences other than the plate number been reported?
