My wife informed me that I bought over 1400 lots on ebay last year and that I sold less than 400. I was surprised by the numbers, but when I checked, she was right. I was also surprised that she knew how to find those numbers. When I reminded her that I sell much more at the local bourse's or club meetings she asked me how much I buy at those. I really need to think more before I speak.

Did you make more on the 400 then you spent on the 1400? If so, then you can work that into your favor.

In my record-selling days in the 70s and 80s, I'd occasionally have men (it ws always men, of course) ask me to alter prices on the records they were buying to avoid spousal nagging.

Will,
The 1400 outweighed the 400,(you got a small portion of that), however what I sell locally at clubs and bourses is more than I buy at them. I think I would be wise for me to just say, Yes Dear and not try to drag this out. She appears to have done her homework. I don't know how it works at your house, but even if I win, I lose.
Geoff,
Whenever I buy at my local brick and mortar store they always offer a receipt and I throw it in the trash and tell them to burn the evidence. By the way, do you still deal in records? I have 1000's.

IkeyPikey,
What can I say. I was in my 20's and was blinded by the B's,(blonde hair, blue eyes, big boobs). Hell I'm almost 60 now and I could be blinded by the B's again.

I could employ the diversion technique and tell her that the local Indian dealer is having a pre season sale and ask her if she wants to go look at bikes with me. My Goldwing is 33 years old with 122,000 miles on her after all.

No - that was before I turned back down the evolutionary scale and became a civil servant. My own prized collection of soul and blues singles/albums went to pay bills and debts in the late-80s.

I bought 25 items on ebay in 2014 and sold zero. I do tend to buy more locally it seems which works out well for you, pjsstamps.

Smauggie,
You are a great customer. Thank You. By the way I have six boxes of Minnesota covers that I finally got done sorting that nobody has seen. Let me know when you are heading to the next library bourse.

My wife (l'm a widower) and I had an amicable arrangement. If she would forget and ask how much I spent on stamps (or my other hobbies) I would remind her that I wasn't asking how much she was spending on clothes, shoes, or handbags.

My wife and I practice a "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding my stamp sales and purchases. While I undoubtedly spend more than I should, it's never more than I can afford. I never put stamps on a credit card expecting it'll take months to pay off, for example. I either pay instantly via cash/check/paypal, etc or pay off the plastic in full as soon as the bill comes. It'd be a different conversation if I had to explain a big credit card we couldn't pay off.
