Hey guys,

I just took a chance on a really ill-explained lot of stamps on ebay and won it for $5. When I received it, I was pretty shocked. There was hundreds of 19th century stamps and all kinds of documentary and Rev stamps.

Anyways, I've never had this many early Rev stamps to look through. So I wanted to see what kinds of errors, misprints, cities/states postmarks or anything else to look for that is rare or unique (besides the sunken and shifted head).

The last 2 pictures show some cool finds that I picked out from scanning all of them. The top 3 are very interesting to me and wanted to get a more tenured opinion. If you look at the last picture, the left stamps shift from brown to orange diagonally. The middle picture looks like the machine ran out of ink to color in the border? The right one looks like it was printed a little at an angle and maybe pinched in a little.

Thanks for all of the help!

Nice score! There is a current thread on this board on "sock on the nose cancels" on revenues that will help you get a handle of what type of cancels are sought after. Take a look at what the other revenue collectors are showing us all and that will show you what to look for.

Kinda hard to go wrong for $5. Wish I had seen it.

Be sure to check for double transfers, plate scratches, and other anomalies.
