Hi, I m new on this forum and could use some advise about a #25 I just found. First I tought it was a Normal Minor re-entry, doubling on right but, with and different angle tahn original design.

Then I was thinking to myself, when do a re-entry have a different angle??

Then I started to look closely on my 65'' monitor on High res scan 4800 dpi

It was dramatical, the whole design was doubled 5 degrees toward clockwork side.

I Compared it to over 45 other LQ #25 I have, and the result was solid as rock, the stamp is either Major twisted re-entery on the whole stamp, or double print with a 5 degrees clockwork side shift.

Major points:
- all four Number 3 have something wrong (actually there is 2 time the number 3 in 2 different position, wich give that wird looking)
-Complete doubling on right side with a +/- 5 degrees angle clockwork side
-ALL letters are doubled with the same angle
-Nose and mouth of queen are also doubled..
-The whole stamp is double

Here my interpretation of it;

Here the stamp:

You can clearly see a total doubling of the stamp with +/- 5 degrees rotation clockwork side. Notice the way the doubling occure on the right of the stamp, wich proof it was a rotation.

Then to be sure of my theory, I took a scan of the same side (4800DPI) and removed all the white aread then combined both stamp

(Here the Layer I used with normal design)

Once combined, the result was oustanding;

With Layer

Without

With layer:

(Notice how we see CLREALY that there is 2 time the designe in the 3 that werre shifted clockwise from +/- 5 degrees

Without layer

With layer

Without layer

So the question is ; It is a Twisted re-entry or a double print??

Your opinion is more than welcome.

(sorry for my English)

Hello and welcome to the forum ! I am not sure I quite understand your process and how you use the layering. There are supposed to be re-entries on this stamp but almost none are recorded. The master on re-entries is Ralph Trimble. You should email him. His site is www.re-entries.com

Hi and thanks,

The layer prossess is pretty easy, with Photoshop you take 2 scan 1 from the ''re entered'' stamp and 1 from Normal desing one.

Both need to have the same exact resolution, then you remove all the white area (paperper without ink) on the normal designe stamp and put it over and alligne the stamp on the other 1. Then only the re-entered area are showing in the ''Removed white area)

I contacted Ralph, he claimed a Minor re-entry,he didn't even check the whole stamp and only claimed minor to the right, but hey! I m sorry, the WHOLE stamp is doubled, this is not look minor to me. I could even think of a double print since all the part are doubled. so that is why I m turning towards you.

Any opinion would be apreciated.

..To the forum darth

I was looking at what you are trying to say here..Two things..Re-entry and misalignment.

First if you think the actual design is off 5% from normal, maybe it could happen two different ways.

1 - When paper was fed into print, it may not have lined up 100%.
2 - When it was sent through the perforation machine it may not have lined up 100% again.

As far as the re-entry question goes, Coriandre is correct...Contact Ralph at http://www.re-entries.com/...He IS the expert and can help you to figure out what you have..good luck and thanks for being a part of this great forum.

Hi, I m not saying the design is shifted 5% clockwork, I m saying, there is 2 design in the stamp, first one being allign correctly and second one with 5 degrees offset clockwork side.

Best way to see it is to look at my picture I post of the Lower right #3, you see 2 /3 being printed on each other with 5 degrees offset.

In fact, to me, it look like the first designe was correctly printed, then a second design was printed again with 5 degrees offset, or , it the must major twisted re-entry I've seen.

I hadded some scan of a normal one and my ''Re-entry/double print''

Here my shematic again, Black rectangle being the first print, then the red on the angle of the second print

NORMAL #25

My ''re-entered/double print'' #25

Examine the CENTS and #3, notice that you clealy see a doubling everwhere, the 5 degrees offset is easy to see in the bottom of Number 3

In the S, We can clearly see the 5 degrees off set of the second print or twisted re-entry.

Normal #25

My ''re-entered/double print'' #25

Give a look to the ''T'' you clearly see Twice the T, one in normal position, other with 5 degrees offset,

Here I show where the doubling is in red

It is occuring on the Whole stamp, that why I was thinking of a Double print.

Between the two option, I would lean for a twisted reentry. But man, it is subtle and hard to see without your layering. I dont see it when you only show the stamp. If it is clock Wise, it would show the best at UR and LL corners. Any new reentry on the large Queens is a great find ! I have a copy of the one shown at re-entries.com

You are correct, here the UR corner

LL corner
You can see the 2 angle clearly in the T

So I m the owner of a Ultra rare copy of a Major twisted re-entry!!

Now I m happy about this, you guys have any idea of the value of that little one?

Last time I contacted Ralph he had 600+ emails in one day. He hardly has time to check all of them. I am surprised he can even look at all of them let alone respond.

Hi guys,

I recived the confirmation of Ralph;

It is most definitely a slightly twisted re-entry

Woot!

So this mean it is constant, so guys, check your LQ #25!! You may have one laying down there!
