How do you do the test on this duck stamp.

These perfs look real ragged.

The whole stamp looks rough. I'd guess it was carried in someone wallet for quite a time.

This is the first issue of the USA Federal Revenue Duck Stamp RW1. They seem to be in short supply and sell high. This one sold for $6.00, not much you might think but as said it is in rough shape and yes the hunters usually in inclement weather (foul weather for fowl) kept on his person or wallet, to hunt and be legal.

I was wondering if these might be susceptible to fakes and forgeries, is why I asked about the perforations.

I was just looking for the space filler type cheap but they get bid up, I missed rebidding on this one as I figure it would go even higher.

A stamp similar with big crease left to right is selling at buy it now $35.00, kinda ridicules in my mind but they know when they have you over a barrel, these RW1 stamps remind me of the Colombians dollar stamps it could be shot full of holes and your tires spun on them to make dark dark tar like cancellations and they still sell over catalog prices, they just know that is the way it is.

A third one has been bid up over $36.00 rough shape, I just can't buy junk for that price. I did see some at the APS site I may look further into. Think I will head over there now and look.

The gauge matches up well; perfs probably genuine but very worn/faulty (like the rest of the stamp, LOL.) Looks like the type of stamp that has a good story behind it.

I rarely see "altered" RW1's and haven't ever seen a "fake" one, although I've seen fake licenses with RW1's added long after 1935. Most common alteration (IMO) is a regum to make it look MNH. There are MANY no gum (& used not canceled/not signed) examples out there - perfect stock for making those "NH gems".

Well I found this one on ebay I bought this morning. Got it for $10.50 the same type were going for around $16.00-$35.00, at any rate will fit well in my used duck collection. The one on the APS site was similar to this for $16.00. I thought they were going to fight me on this but auction fizzled out quietly at $10.50.
