Here is a cover sent from Seattle Washington to Papeete Tahiti in 1910. The back cancel is a "Foreign Section" cancel. Is this a normal cancel for the time? I thought the outgoing foreign mail went through San Francisco. Bill
Yes, it is normal. While not as common as San Francisco, Seattle, Wa. was a for-of-entry and embarkation for mail going to Canada, and other points like Japan, Korea (Chosen at that time), China, Russia and other parts in the far east.
