The basic stamp is w/m 2 crown CA.
The overprint is 16 mm wide.So it looks like SG 4
Should I be suspicious of the overprint?

I hope not and am encouraged that the cancellation appears to be on top, but less thrilled by the tag on the E. May I please seek the advice of those who know a lot more than I.
