Southernmostfish, I went to www.stampworld.com to look these up and that catalog told me there is a difference in watermarks! the 1957 stamp is printed on paper with watermark WM1, the later one with WM2. To check for the watermarks I suggest you check Stanley Gibbons?

1957 - Multiple script CA
1963 - Multiple St Edward's Crown CA

Crown different, and "CA" in capitals.

I think we are, but Scott may not use the standard GB terminology for the watermarks - although I'd be surprised if it didn't.

Gibbons lists a ½d issued in 1957 in 'green and reddish lilac' as SG 18, and a 1963 reissue in 'green and reddish purple' as SG 18a.

Are they what you're talking about? Pictures would help enormously - not all of us have or use Scott, particularly for British Commonwealth.
