Why ????

Here's one I would like explained. I've heard of picture post going for stupid money, but why. 24 stamps almost $200. Why???

I like the "Must See"...this seller have quite few all selling at high price ??????????????????????????????????

Even if they were my relatives, I wouldn't bid on them.

I don't think that they are buying them for the pictures shown on the stamps but more for the non-philatelic use of these stamps by people on their regular ordinary mailings. In these cases the frames along with the denominational rate on them would be of interest as used through the post. Canada # 1853, 1882, 1918. However, some who don't know better may think that these are rarities since the pictures are all different and not found in the stamp catalogue because they are individually custom made to order.

I believe there is one and only one reason that people pay soooo much for these stamps..That is because say you put you dog on it beside your cat and mailed them to relatives...Consider this..Maybe there would only be a dozen of these in existence...In my opinion.

Everyone who is bidding on those knows EXACTLY what they are. Used Picture Postage stamps have been selling quite high over the past few years.

Indeed that is true! However, I still struggle to understand the attraction to privately-made picture postage stamps. To each his own, I guess ...

I can understand the attraction; I just struggle to understand the prices being paid.

I can understand the attraction and the high prices.

Many or most of these types of items, from all countries, are printed in limited quantities.
Many, many collectors strive for completeness or as near to as is possible.

I sold one, YES 1, personalized stamp from Israel for $120, I had the buyer pleading with me to sell. And later, at a stamp show, I was offered even higher prices for other similar types....but refused.

Hope this pasted ebay addy works. Mind boggling to me. I think there must be a new sub culture of stamp collectors.

Unless they are "onto" something that most of us will find out about later, but probably too late.

Is this a new investment opportunity that will pay off in the future? Are these even stamp collectors? Maybe they are into a different hobby that includes buying these things.

I know at the moment I don't get it.
