As it turned out, the vast majority of people guessed under the correct amount. The closest person was Blaamand with a guess of 25,123 stamps.
The actual number was 31,102 stamps... that's a LOT of classic Germany, even if the vast majority are penny ante!

I might make some MNH sets of the inflation-era stuff and see how they do on
ebay. As far as the used material is concerned, there are $1-5 catalog value stamps by the thousands... which unfortunately are a tough sell, at least on
ebay the overhead and postage makes them difficult to sell as singles... not to mention the likely spurious nature of many inflation-era cancels.
