Several years ago I purchased a package of Dennison hinges.
I just now opened the package only to find almost the entire package of hinges are folded backwards with the adhesive side inwards.

Gee, I wonder if I can return them to Dennison's for a refund?

Research them! Figure out how they were made and make some new ones!

If they existed now perhaps they would take them back but with a discount, like 90% on the price and resell them for $20 to $40 on ebay. Smart move if you were not collecting

Shame on us for letting them get out. Someone certainly set up the equipment incorrectly.

I would appreciate it if you would scan a view of the packet. I can get a rough idea of the production era from the shape of the D in Dennison. Just curious.

No refunds available. The last production runs were in the 70s, although we did produce two master rolls of hinge material in the 80s on equipment that had not been used in 15 years and was barely functional. We had to cannibalize one machine to get the other one working. A classic case of Sales being out of touch with Production.

I don't know where the two rolls were shipped. That was very hush-hush and above my pay grade.

You mean I can't get a refund?
But it's only been 50 years ago!

Oh Well, there's another 29 cents down the drain.

I bought a pack of Harco Fold-O-Hinges 'vintage' from an ebay vendor last year. Didn't get around to using them until last month when I discovered none of them were gummed.

Vintage hinges are a hot commodity and I suspect the bottom of the barrel has been reached and a lot of what is offered are the dregs. Stuff set aside as defective stock years ago is now being sold by vendors who may not be aware of what they are selling. I also suspect some modern hinges may be repackaged in perhaps counterfeit packages to make them look like older ones. With prices up to $15 a pack why not?

That 1965 .29 has inflated to $2.18. If we only knew that Dennison Hinges would now be selling for $15 per 1000 or 0.015 cents per hinge..

Timm: Thanks for the photo. The slanted D in Dennison confirms the packet was made in the 70s. Still, a good 40 years old. Made to last; just folded the wrong way. I'm sure you can refold them and still find them useful.
