610 8 Cent Krieghoff - Possible New Variety ?

That is a good list Blackjag. I will have to go over my sheets again. I have complete panes of 1 and 3, and most of pane 2. I am also missing pane 4.

How is it that a rare few issues have so many irregularities? Like the RMC Centenary (#592-3)?
Is it just sloppy work?

I'm just curious about this quote though:

I haven't heard of any similar cases such as this.
I know that the main contractors printing stamps for
the USPS have used subcontractors such as Ferguson, American Bank Note,
Sommers but they print the whole stamp not just a portion.

What obviously? What difference could there be? One out of four Panes is rarer, but again only when proven.

Constant means appearing on a sheet (4 Panes) at least once every Sheet. Nothing to do with how many Panes it is on. Constant means every time.

Non-constant is once in a rare while, not seen every time on every Sheet (4 Panes).

I said I found no black plot on position one on the

Hi Puzzler. Litho is correct, the "Rock in the snow" appears always on pane 1, position 1. The same is for the other constant varieties.

Here is an updated layout of the location of panes 1 to 4 in the press sheet. The margins are in yellow, and the cut lines in green.

I have also changed the variety numbering, to actually be reflect the pane number and position. I have not shown all the varieties, I will continue to add some as I actually see them.

Correction: I mean Pane 2, Position 1

How can one tell if they have pane number 4 or not? Is it by specific constant plate position varieties that are found in pane number 4 only?

Fascinating subject this stamp. I have a "broken door frame" variety that also has a blue dot over the lowest tree in the background.

Jogil: The only way to determine what sheet you have is if you have any of the varieties on that sheet.

Jjmclell: I will check my sheets and see if any have your variety.

It's not on my (Pane 2) UR pane.

I don't have it on any of my stamps.

It is not on my panes 1, 2 and 3. I don't have pane 4.
