watermark, there is a block of 4 of the same stamp with the same purple cancel in the centre. Do you think it was a per-favour strike from way back?

I seem to recall reading (Fred Jarett memoir book I believe) that someone at some point had several sets of jubilees with these types of CDS cancels

Here are a couple more. An interesting Oval (first day) and a MOOD cancel.

3Dadeo, I have seen the purple cancelation on a number of Jubilees but I do not know its origins. I don't research cancelations that closely. Maybe a cancelation collector can help out answering that question.

I'll dig out my Jarrett book and see if I can find the reference.

3Dadeo: What is a "mood" cancel; haven' heard of this...As for the purple cancels on high-value jubilees, I believe they are known as "Winnipeg Magenta" cancels. Here's one of my own:



Incidentally, the four corner cancel reminds me of 3Dadeo's Loyalist Triple-strike.

A MOOD cancel was used by post offices that were authorized to issue money orders.

MOOD stands for Money Order Office Datestamp. They are typically larger than a regular postal cancel, and often struck in coloured ink.
