I purchased a Frank Godden Deluxe Album that was on clearance. I just received it and noticed that the color from the binder has bleed onto the inside. The leather is sticky on the inside of the spine. Has anyone ever seen this before? I was very disappointed as it seems a quality issue.

Also there is a wrinkle in the leather on the front of the binder.

I purchased it from a reputable supplier who I am sure will allow a return. But I as still disappointed with this.

Very nice, not cheap -- I can understand your disappointment. My experience is that clearance sales often include 2nds or damaged items -- always check with the dealer first.

Sounds like it was exposed to a hot/humid environment. Your dealer may very well have purchased it as part of much larger wholesale supply lot.

I have 6 Frank Godden DeLuxe albums I purchased over time as lightly used or new/old stock. None of them have the ink bleed you're showing, nor is the leather sticky anywhere.

Don't know what might have happened in the past to yours.

I seem to recall Gibbons had a flood in their basement a few years ago. If you got it from them, it may have be exposed to water (speculation).

I am glad to hear this problem is not common to the Album. It seems to be well made otherwise.

I think you are right. It looks like it was exposed to excessive heat and mositure over a period of time. I am going to call on Monday about exchanging it. They had two left when I purchased this one.
