I was in Washington D.C. this past week and had the pleasure of attending the Maya Angelou release (power outage and all), and spent 2 days in the postal history museum. The Freedom Just Around the Corner exhibit is the first exhibition devoted entirely to African American history. Great exhibit and was simply amazing! Another highlight was being able to watch a demonstration of the large Spider Press (which only occurs twice per week on a rather unpredictable schedule). Of course, the Miller Collection was just amazing. I was hoping to also see the British Guiana 1c Magenta which was supposed to be displayed in April according to a earlier press release, but was told that it would not be on display until June.

If you are in DC this is certainly a day (or two) well spent.
