Just wanted to update the story . The accumulation of Jim's material has all been sold at auction . It took five different auctions to liquated his vast holdings of all different parts of his estate . First was a stamp auction of the better single items in England ,this was the better Cinderella items .The bulk of the collection was auctioned thru four separate auctions thru Regency of St. Louis . I was a buyer at those four auctions and got a high percentage of the Cinderella lots. I also purchased his books and literature material which was put up in the third auction .The material from the fifth and final auction has not been received yet ,so hoping to post a final summary in a few weeks . |

floortrader: thanks for the update. I did see all those auction items in Regency's catalog. I hope your acquisitions will be a fun thing to review and process. Maybe you'll be the new Cinderella expert around these parts.
One other thing, I recall seeing the forgery collections of the late Varro Tyler going for very high prices at auction a few years ago. I bid on the Portuguese lot, but was wildly outbid. Hopefully your experience on pricing was better. |

Thanks Steve ,never will consider myself any kind of expert ,more accurate to be called a collector. I think we have a few people here who earned to be called a specialist in Cinderella s who have been long time posters . The field of cinderella's is too huge to think a person can be called a expert .

Received the collection lots from the last of the liquated estate of J. Czyl . A lot of nice material ,it is a shame he never organized his stuff better to show what he had . I received many stockbooks ,albums and loose material thru the four of the five auctions. The boxes of material I received will take years to sort and mount ,time will be needed to write up this correctly .So thinking maybe get some of it mounted and add that to my existing collection and get it up on a website within a year . Then spend the next few years adding more pages as information is written up and then including that to the existing web pages .There is enough pages already written up with maybe 60% of the same material you find in the WITT COLLECTION . But over time as I add new pages and update old information ,the website should be 2X to 3X what you see in the WITT COLLECTION . |

It has been a year since I first posted about the James Czyl Cinderella collection . Still working on that and included a lot of my own stuff that I had accumulated over the years .I now have six binders of material mounted and from the boxes sitting around maybe another six binders still to be written up and mounted . Over the past month ,I talked to two computer website developers and had them review and estimate for me the building of a web site much like the WITT COLLECTION . They both held back from giving me a final price to make a site and teach me how to operate it . It seems they both have a hard time understanding that I want in excess of 2,000 possible pages to view . A part from working on my worldwide collection at the same time ,this Cinderella collection is coming into a fine reference source that I really want up and viewable on the web . |

floortrader If you do this with a set of standard web pages, every time you want to add/remove/edit something the process can be arduous. With the size of the effort, I would recommend that you use a SQL database backend. You would then be able to easily add/remove/edit existing records for each Cinderella. If desired, I would be willing to do this for you for free hosted on Stamp Smarter. I could make you an Admin of this section and you could have control over it.
Alternately, if you would like to have your own web site, I can show you how to get a domain name, web and SQL hosting, and assist you with building it yourself. (No charge from me, GOOD hosting is about $35 per month.) Don

DON ---Sounds interesting ,yes ,I could use experience help to get this project off the ground and offer collectors a better and more updated reference point on both Cinderella stamps and a forgeries and fakes reference source that would be updated with the help of many others to keep it up to date . |

Dear Floortrader, I'm glad to see your posts about Jim Czyl. I'm trying to learn more about cinderella fantasy stamps, especially Mr. Czyl's, since he seems to have been one of the foremost experts. I would love to speak with you about the collection. Might you be attending the Chicago Philatelic Society meeting tomorrow? Best, Laura

Laura ---Thanks for your posting ,I now live in Florida and go up to Chicago a few times a year. I worked on the material for a year and half and then moved on to other stamps . I still have a few boxes that I purchased from the estate that I plan to work on later this year .
I have the habit to work on something then put it away as a new interest developes and then returning years later . I am a worldwide collector who bounces around ,right now I am working on Japanese forgeries and getting lost in what I am doing .
I always happy to meet you and discuss Cinderella stamps or if your around Orlando Fl. your welcome to stop by . |

Thank you so much for your reply!
I am a curator of contemporary art at you Chicago, thinking of an exhibition of fantasy cinderellas. I see that Alphaomegaphilately has many ex Czyl collection stamps for sale on eBay. I'm also curious to know more about Roger and Bonnie Riga and what happened to their stock. I will be in Miami quite soon for another research project. Laura-----I believe Roger and Bonnie Riga are exiting the stamp business ,reason is unclear to me . They did put up a huge part of their inventory up with Rasdale Auctions in Chicago . It was up 2 or 3 stamp auctions ago . |

Thanks James . Sorry to hear that, they were major Cinderella dealers .Maybe it was their estate that consigned their inventory . |
