"Misprint" Maya Angelou Stamp Pane For $100?!?

You knew it had to happen: Someone trying to make a quick buck off the Maya Angelou Stamp (mis)quote ... this time offering a $5.88 face value pane of 12 stamps for $100 on ebay!

Sadly, some unsuspecting person may think this will become a true collector's item, not realizing that 80 million stamps have been printed.

If you read the post on ebay the seller really isn't doing any false advertising. There's been enough said on the web about the 'Misprint' to keep him safe. It's a shame the media's idea of misprint is not how we define the term. The only real problem with the listing is the ridiculous price and you can charge whatever you want. It doesn't mean you will find anyone to pay it. Any savvy buyer will do a search for an item and compare all the items in that category. There are more than enough realistically priced sheets there to make someone question why the inflated price by this fool. Notice also the guys feedback score.

I emailed the seller, just for fun, asking him, "what is the misprint?" He responded that the quote was incorrect. When I told him in a second email that this was not an actual misprint, it was done on ALL the stamps, and that you could still buy them at the post office, he replied, "then I suggest you buy them at the post office."

Well that fun exchange just wasted two minutes of my life ...

Sounds like the guy will go far on ebay. Wonder how long it will take before that 100% perfect feedback rating turns into something else?

Poetic justice would be if he bought up a big bunch of the sheets figuring he could make a killing on ebay and winds up getting stuck with them and has to use them for postage instead. :)

I like this tidbit in the fine print of this listing:

"I'm sure it will be of great value someday."
