Hi,
I'm loading "Chile" into the Scott's international and find myself unable to determine where some early 20th century stamps belong.

The groups in question are the 1911 issues (Scott 98-123) vs. the similar 1915-25 issues (Scott 127-142).

The differences (according to Scott) is that the earlier group has horizontal and diagonal background lines, while the later group has only horizontal lines.

Well, I've got about 25 that could fit in those groups, and they really all look alike. I can see horizontal lines but no diagonals. I suspect I am not looking in the right places or ???

Does anyone have a pic(s) that would show the difference?

Thank you!

YIKES !! They are perforated differently!

I confess in my search for "diagonal lines" I completely passed by the perf differences.

THANK YOU!

Mystery solved, and I can move on to China and all my "junks"............
