As from this week we will no longer be selling Australia self adhesive letter rate sets or singles.

It is impossible to earn more than 5c per hour with these stamps.

Buying the kiloware, sorting, soaking, drying, grading, storing, listing preparation, listing, invoicing, packaging and mailing.

And people complain about the cost to buy them........

Who is selling these and making a bunch per hour?

I think sellers would do well to notice special things about stamps too, like cancels and postmarks and markings, special labels like airmail, etc, paper of embelopes, names and hand-writing, watermarks of course, perfs, topics, themes, all kinds of special little things that the main 20% of people do not notice or care much about.

But the 80% of people (read collectors) who do notice some of these little inconsequential things will pay more for them as they are special to them.

The economic long tail rule that Amazon thrives upon, and ebay too, come to think on it.

Someone always wants something but not right away. Maybe in a week, maybe a month, maybe in two years, but sometime. Selling is looking out for people and looking after them in special ways that others are ignoring.

If you are trying to keep the wolves from the door and selling S/A letter rate sets are not working out income wise then the work load needs to change.

Answer is to sell kiloware comm's in lots of 70c, 60c, 55c, & 50c.

Magic the balance returns to the selling arena!

Hopefully the buyer & seller will be happy days again!

Stamps mean a lot of different things to different people in a lot of different ways.

We have 2 adult children with totally no income doing full time study. The government has been rejecting their income support for study by giving them the run a round. Waiting for 4 hrs on the phone and unable to get in contact so the whole mess starts from scratch again.

Transport 2 students $600 per 2 weeks.Loans, rego, insurance, parking costs, Food etc we just do not get that much per 2 weeks to get anywhere near the amount needed. So stamp selling is total have too. The collector is being beaten out of me!The blessing is we can do it. But no luxury of being able to think that the stamp sellers are the scum of stamp collecting.lol

I'm not trying to talk you into or out of anything here, but could you sell the same sets, but still on paper? That would save a lot of time soaking and drying. I know not everyone likes to soak, but some don't mind. Maybe a 2-tiered price would work, with off paper carrying a substantial premium. I don't mind soaking kiloware (I have 3 pounds on order right now), but I shudder to think at trying to make a living off of it.

Interesting TheArtfulHinger.

Have seen people selling on paper sets. As many as 100 sets the same.

At present I have + also in the mail 24kg of close cut to sort.

It really does come down to time.

With not selling S/A sets off paper it should make my kiloware look a whole lot better. Maybe not?
