Hi, I'm still looking and learning about stamps. I have a GPO 1 shilling booklet, George V1 new colours it has a tear with a paper join on the back as shown in photos. Does this devalue it?
Thanks
Caroline

Welcome Cas63...I would think it does de value the price..One thing for sure, it would make it harder to lick-and-stick 2 stamps on a letter.

We will wait for the experts to chime in and follow up on the de valuation aspect of these stamps relationship in for stamp collectors.

Robert

Interesting piece and would catch the eye of someone if it was written up on a page but not something of value .

A collector of 'Errors, Freaks & Oddities' would likely show some interest in this piece although I can't imagine it fetching much of a premium.

You have another "slot-machine" one shilling booklet there. It could be either the 1952 or the 1953 issue depending on what is written on the covers. Either way the "worth" is roughly the same.
As for the damage repair...I think most collectors would wish for a perfect booklet but the repair would be of interest to those booklet collectors who want everything possible. These booklets were produced when GB was in a post-war frame of mind and recovering slowly from the massive cost of that so everything possible was not wasted... hence the repair, I suspect.
