Stamp Has Me Stumped - Solved, Iraq Revenue "Save Palestine"

I had this sorted with Iraq, thinking I was looking at a young King Faisal II. But I'm not finding it at all.

I've given up and throw it (and myself) on your mercy. Can anybody unstump me, pretty please? What is this overprinted stamp?

Overprinted revenue stamp. Don't know what the overprint is for. It will not be listed in Scott. Hopefully somebody can chime in with more details.

Gah! Revenue stamp would explain a lot! Can't even imagine how one of these ended up in my mother's collection -- LOL!

I'm no expert, but I did come across this ebay listing that should help. It appears your example is as per the last stamp shown here:

The caption suggests the stamps are 1948 Iraq Palestine Aid Overprint (S.G. Types 28d-28h).

Nice pic, wt1! Those postal tax stamps are listed in Scott; just not the ones over the revenue stamps. I wonder if those overprinted revenues were valid for postage tax, or only for revenue?

I do believe you're right! Nicely done, khj and wt1! I think the overprint says, "Save Palestine".

If anybody has any catalogue information that I can put with it when I tuck it away someplace, that'd be awesome! But I'm happy as a clam to know that it was, at least, King Faisal! :)
