Hello,
I just registered and like to ask you about my perfin stamps. They are from "The sterling telephone & Electric Co.". One stamp has the perforation upside-down.

I have now knowledge at all. Is that something special or just the bulk material?
I would appreciate your feedback
best regardes
Yun

Welcome to the forum Yun

Perfins are quite collectible. There are specialty groups devoted to these. My suggestion regarding value would be to go into the perfins forum at https://www.facebook.com/groups/456934271039532/ and try there.

Hope this helps?

These stamps could be done "in house" by the company involved. Much of the time the stamps were folded, concertina fashion, so that several layers could be perfinned at a time. That way you get one normal and one upside-down on the same vertical strip.... or normal and reversed if the concertina was the folded horizontally. No real extra value but of great interest if you have a pair so are collectible that way.

By the way, some of your stamps are perforated 15 x 14. The one penny stamps and the bottom 2.5 penny stamp seem, to my one good eye, to be so. Not sure about the green halfpenny which would be reasonably valuable in good condition. The Harrison printed stamps are a little more valuable than the original De La Rue printing... but the perfins might devalue them. So, interesting stuff for research if you want to look into that sort of thing.
