Hi guys....I know it cant happen but take a look at this Scott #41 and tell me, does it look like one cancel on the front and a different cancel on the back..??..Weird.
It is also worth noting that the stamp image is also shown on the reverse but upside-down and reversed. This looks to me like a complete transfer of the stamp design and postmark from the front of another stamp onto the back of this one.
It looks like this stamp has partial gum? If so, it appears it got firmly stuck to another stamp and when they were popped apart it lifted some of the ajoining stamp/cancel. Soak it.
Yes, soaking would likely remove all that, just like it were a hinge remnant or piece of envelope. I believe you have a relic of poor storage and not any postal error or freak.
You know what John..I think I will leave it alone..it might come in handy if some one posts a thread on ""how to and not how to store stamps""...It will make a good example..Thanks for your info.
