I have recently purchased a collection where the stamps are mounted using black stamp mounts. I want to reuse those mounts. I am able to peel it off very easily from the paper. However, can anybody suggest what is a good brand of glue in US that I can buy to re-attach them to my collection?I should be able to peel it off very easily if required later.

The cheap glue pen works very well. It is a tube of viscous translucent glue in plastic tube with a sponge top. You can apply a touch of this glue with great precision, and it is not strong that it will wreak havoc with your album pages. |

You could use a dry adhesive such as UHU which is acid free and doesn't wrinkle paper. Another possible solution is Thermoweb-Zots which are also acid free. Both products are commonly used by crafters, and readily available in craft stores. |

@Glenn I am trying to avoid that and looking at something quicker to reattach them
@owsi15797 If I use either of those two, can I easily remove the mount later on from paper?
What do they use in magazines when they attach those fliers which come off very easily? |

Most of the mounts I've pulled off had paper attached, remnant style. I found that hobby lobby has a Showgard strip kit of 50 strips, 5 ea of 10 sizes for $22, I used their app and got 40% off. 50 Strips for just over $13 is pretty awesome, so no re-using for me. |

The glue dots, or Zots would allow you to remove again, but one thing I failed to mention is that they will add additional thickness to each page.
UHU is permanent. |

Quote: Glenn I am trying to avoid that and looking at something quicker to reattach them I'm kinda with Glenn, I used hinges on one half of the split back to mount my showguard mounts back when I was using quadruled pages, because I knew that those papes were at best temporary. I have since recycled most of those pages and now have showguard mounts with disturbed gum, but its a small area that was affected, and I can turn the mount over and have an un used half. Ok, I'm frugal. |

If you want to be sure you can remove the mounts from the pages with minimal damage later on, use hinges. Like Glenn and phil, that's what I do. Not sure why you think hinging is not a quick process. |

Hi
I have been using Showgard mounts for years. I use quadrille blank pages only so if I have to remount a page I just "deep six" the old page(s), mounts and all. I have tried re-using the mount by removing it and turning it upside down but never really had much luck with that. To me it is not worth the effort to re-use the mount.
However, if I used pre-printed albums I would re-think the issue and probably would use hinges to attach the mount, as suggested. Jerry B |

LOL - when I switched from the Mystic Heirloom to the Scott National, I had every single stamp I owned in a mount in the Mystic. I was able to save 95+% of them by wiping a little Stamp Lift on the back of the Mystic pages. The used mount lifted right off, sometimes leaving a little bit of paper. Took care of that with a que-tip, more stamp lift and my tongs to scrape the rest off. I let them dry and like littleriverphil, used the other half to remount into my National. I saved a fortune on buying all new mounts. |

Clear Stamp Mounts as supplied with Pre-printed pages.
Recent experience. Pre-cut mounts are unable to be removed from the page, the glue is extremely well applied over a large area of the mount.
This glue is water soluble, but so is the gum on the seam of the mount, using water will just separate the mounts. Unfortunately, one just has to discard.

I use a 3-M product, a translucent archival tape. I tear off a half-inch piece and fold it like a stamp hinge. It is a little like Scotch tape but more of a paper feel. It comes in a purple-plaid plastic dispenser which I cannot find right now, but it does seem fairly "peelable." I think I got it in an arts supply store long ago.
Before I discovered that, I used to use Scotch cellophane tape but that does tear the page if removed. Not usually a problem as I would just put a new mount over the torn section.
I did use stamp hinges for a little while but the added weight of the mount seems to be too much for the hinges and I had too many stamps and mounts go a-flying away.
