Error On Modern Cover - Worth Anything?

Although I may know something about the earlier stuff, I don't really have a good handle on the Modern varieties. I look them up in the Unitrade if I run into them.

I received some stamps in this cover years ago. And kept it because of the 5c Brown stamp missing the blob of color.

I think maybe some fluff of paper stuck onto the sheet when it was printed and fell off after it dried.

What do you think and is this worth anything?

I have seen or heard of this error before, but can't remember where. If you are sure it is not a scrape (ie. damage), then it certainly will have some value as an EFO.


How much value is hard to say, but don't look to retire. IMO, you might get $10 - $15. Again, this is assuming it is not damage, but a genuine printing error.

I have checked very carefully and I'm sure it's an error in the printing. There are no signs of a scrape or damage to the surface of the paper. But the shiny paper finish is not on that white area.

Maybe some glue was on there and it fell off. The faint postmark seems to be on top of the white area. Too close to call, I think.

i changed the colour to get a better look at your stamp...Look where the double arrows are pointing..Each double arrow points to roughly the same colour....I think what has happened is a loose piece of paper has stuck to the plate and fell off after or was removed later...Not sure I would call it an error..Maybe EFO..Just my opinion.

Yeah - not a printing error. Something to do with the printing process. I'll go with the piece of paper explanation. Thanks, everyone.

Some of these odd ones are tough to figure out. It's good to have more than my own opinion. I actually have a World EFO collection so this fits in with those.
