Pictures are needed to give an accurate response. But if they were "cheap" stamps back in the day (purchase price of a few cents to a few dollars) they're almost certainly still cheap stamps today. If they were expensive for you to buy back in the day, they're probably still worth something today. Dirt cheap stamps basically never turn into valuable stamps, even over long periods of time.
