Some of the early Washington Franklin imperfs used by the Schermack Company in their affixing machines catalog for a $1 or less. With perfins the same stamp catalogs for $40 and depending on the perfin pattern may bring much, much more.





This stamp sold at a recent auction for over $4000 !

I noticed that no one mentioned that the "Bluenose" perfin, OHMS, is really an "official" stamp and is listed as such. It is not a true "private" perfin. Several countries (I have examples of Luxembourg & New South Whales) chose to "perfin" their official stamps when supplies of standard "OFFICIAL" overprints were slow to arrive.
