Dear fellow collectors, I am new to this forum. I found it in search for a stamp of Skellig Island. There might be more stamps made, but if so I have never seen them. Can anybody tell me where to purchase/find this stamp? I would be grateful - am looking for it for a very long time now.

Are you referring to the 2012 Irish Europa stamp depicting the Skellig Islands? That is one of a set of two stamps. Only one stamp shows the islands. |

Dearest NSK (for the sake of the forum I will maintain the English language),
I am very, very grateful for your help - you have no idea how much I appreciate this! I am not really a stamp collector. It all started with the idea to fill a map of the world with stickers of the countries I travelled/lived/worked. Each car received a bumper stickers, which I safed when the car was sold. The map soon became overfull since stickers are big, and at a very late stage I came to the idea to use stamps instead. And how much more interesting these are! (although a poststamp would have looked silly on a car of course...) So interesting that I am partly covering the stickers with stamps, since I already had glued all stickers. So interesting that I in a couple of weeks have two, or even three stamps of each country. I did not receive all of them yet, but I am sure the map will still be overfull. As you will understand the virus is catching me already. I became seriously ill and, to my sadness and frustration, I no longer can travel and making this map (together with a hugh pile of photobooks) is really very therapeutic, I must say. Each stamp must represent a memory and Skellig Island was a big adventure - it took 5 days of waiting (there was either mist, or storm, or the wrong wind direction) before I could reach this island with an amazing history by small fishingboat. So you really made me very happy. I now will try to obtain one of these stamps. There is another one, by the way, depicting the stairs to the monestary (I have seen a picture of the stamp (owned by a Canadian chap), although not the stamp itself). Best wishes to you and have a merry Christmas and a good New Year! |

Hi Pilgrim4Ever,
I am sorry to read about your illness. As an avid traveller, I cannot imagine being unable to travel. I would be up there with seeing my stamp collection be destroyed when the jetties break as for biggest disasters in human history.
My collecting interests are related to my travels. I, currently, am writing a thread about Spanish stamps depicting tourist sites, on this forum. I am adding my pictures if I have visited the site myself.
Do you know what country issued the stamp depicting the monastery? There are some online catalogues that show the stamps. It will take some time to go through the listings. However, if it was an Irish stamp, I can go through my Hibernian Handbook of Irish stamps and see if I can identify it for you.
There have been issues commemorating St. Columban and St. Brendan that may depict the islands.
Happy holidays |

I went through my Hibernian Handbook, but I cannot find any other issues that show the Skellig Islands.
@Redwoodrandy
Is that just a picture of the stairway or is that related to the stamp Pilgrim4ever wrote about? |
